This culturally, responsive counseling approach will focus on supporting the cultural student needs of belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity. These four elements are the foundations for resilience and positive youth development. The Indian Education School Counselor will meet with designated students to build and reclaim their strength in each area through individual counseling and goal setting.
This counseling service is voluntary for students. Students are able to opt-in or opt-out of participating.
Students Served: 9th-11th grade students with Federal Designation of American Indian or Alaskan Native in general education. Indian Ed Social Workers will be supporting students with Special Education needs.
Braided Journeys and American Indian Studies staff will be supporting students at Como Park, Harding, and Johnson through their programming.
