Hi, my name is Ms. Bianka and I have been a school counselor in St. Paul Public Schools for 5 years. I received my B.A. at the University of Wisconsin at Madison and my M.A. in counseling and student personnel psychology at the University of Minnesota here in the Twin Cities.
I was born in Guatemala and have lived in the United States since I was a year old. I have lived in St. Paul for 20 years and my children attend St. Paul Public schools. In my free time, I love to camp, ski, read, take my dog to the dog park and spend time with my family.
My role as a school counselor is to advocate on behalf of my students to make sure their needs are being met so they can be successful here at school. I help students develop their skills in the academic, social/emotional, and college/career domains. I meet individually and in groups with students to address particular counseling needs.
This year, I will be visiting 6th-grade classrooms each quarter to deliver various lessons. The focus for Q1 will be teaching our students how to build positive connections with their peers and the adults in the building so they can feel supported during their transition to middle school. Q2's lesson will target the academic skills they need in order to keep up with the middle school curriculum. And in Q3, we will do some self-exploration and goal-setting as they start thinking about 7th grade in particular and their future in general.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions/concerns regarding your student. I can be reached by email, firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone, 651-744-8323.
