Hello! My name is Becky Magnuson. I have been working in St. Paul Schools since 2008 in various positions. For many years, I taught Kindergarten and first grade. From 2013-2015 I worked as a PBIS specialist for the district. I am so excited to now be working as the Learning Lead here at Nokomis Montesorri South!
As a Learning Lead my #1 priority is to support the amazing teachers and staff here at Nokomis! I will do that in a way that aligns with the St. Paul Schools Strategic Plan's Big 3: cultivating a Positive School Culture, using Culturally Relevant practices, and engaging Family and Community members.
I will work with teacher teams to learn and implement a new literacy curriculum, utilize new reading materials, and set goals for their students based on academic data, and driven by our School Continuous Improvement Plan. I am also responsible for providing professional development and training, as well as co-planning with teachers around topics such as Culturally Responsive Instruction and supporting multi-lingual learners.
Professionally, my core values are rooted in building genuine relationships, collaboration, and early intervention. I am very passionate about working with the Student Assistance Team (SAT), where our goal is to provide early academic intervention for our students that are not yet reaching their full potential. I also enjoy supporting the work of our teachers in Professional Learning Communities, where they study student data, set academic goals for their students, and dive into new instructional strategies. I am always happy to chat with families about my position and our work here at Nokomis South. You can find me at student drop-off and pick-up Monday-Thursday, call, or send me an email!
