    Student may register for ONE Summer Session. Students are assigned to a school based on their home address (or alternative address).  See Summer Learning Programs Schedule for complete program sites detail.


Grades K-4 Summer Session

  • Students will extend their school-year learning through active, fun, and hands-on experiences. The program includes activities in math, reading, physical education, economics, health, and studies about Minnesota plants and animals.

    Students currently enrolled in SPPS language immersion or dual-language programs (Spanish, French, Hmong, and Mandarin) qualify to attend the Language Immersion Program. Students receive instruction in both their school-year language program and English, along with cultural studies and summer-themed activities.

    Guest educators include Wilderness Inquiry and the Science Museum of Minnesota.

Grades 5-8 Summer Session

  • Students receive academic support, develop leadership skills and participate in enrichment  activities. Students in grade 5 learn skills to prepare for the transition to middle school and participate in visual arts and physical education. Students in grades 6-7 choose electives to enhance their summer learning. Elective courses may include agriculture, digital photo/video production, and robotics. All grades 5-7 students can participate in instrumental music.

    Grade 8 students attend Summer Session in a high school building. Classes include leadership, transition to middle school, and academic math and reading. Field trips are taken to extend learning about college and career opportunities and our environment.

    Guest educators include Wilderness Inquiry.
