    Initiating Distance Learning

    Week 1: April 6-10 should be treated similar to the first week of school as it will be almost a month since SPPS students were in school and they will be returning to school in a new learning environment. Expectations for April 6-10 should be clearly communicated to staff, students and families. Recommended learning activities this week include:

    • Establishing and practicing rituals and routines
    • Social Emotional Learning, making connections, checking in with students/families
    • Reviewing checklists, expectations, schedules, forms of communication
    • Testing and practicing using the technology tools available for teaching and learning
    • Communicating with families about the supports available for students
