    Collaborating with Parent Advisory Councils

Each year, Nutrition Services partners with the district’s Parent Advisory Councils to gather feedback and ideas for more culturally diverse menu items. The department hosted several open houses throughout the year with a tour of the central kitchen that is used to prepare many of the items on its menus. Parents of the African American Students Advisory Council (PAASAC) selected the menu for National African American Parent Involvement Day (NAAPID) and the Somali Parent Advisory Council helped create a new East African menu item called Fadira – a chicken dish with egg, tomato, cucumbers and seasoning served chilled.
