Access Programs

  • Post Secondary Enrollment Options allow juniors and seniors to take courses (full or part-time) at a post secondary institution for high school and college credit.  Deadline dates for PSEO application and registration vary, generally beginning in the early spring.  Work with your counselor to ensure PSEO courses taken fulfill high school credit for graduation.  Learn more here.

    College Entrance Exams are required for admission to most colleges.  Even if you are not currently planning on attending college, it is recommended that you take a college entrance exam in April or June of your Junior year.  Sign up early to get a St. Paul testing site.  When is the test offered?     College in the Schools is a U of M program that delivers U courses to juniors and seniors.  Como teachers are specially prepared to teach regular, introductory U courses.  Students receive high school and college credit.  Check with your counselor for courses and procedures for enrolling.

    AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an in-school academic support program that prepares students for college eligibility and success.  AVID is geared for students in the academic middle who are low-income, minority or without a college-going tradition in their families.  Students learn how to work successfully with teachers, take effective notes, and work collaboratively in rigorous courses. 

    College Possible is making college admission and success possible for low-income students through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support. College Possible’s services include academic support through ACT/SAT test preparation, college application assistance, financial aid consulting, guidance in the college transition, and support toward college degree completion.  For more information, visit

    Career Pathways Academy at St. Paul College provides free college credit during the school day.
