• Engagement

The Indian Education School Counselor utilizes the following modes to increase engagement and communication with students and families:

    • Weekly Smore e-Newsletter (weekly announcements, opportunities, and resources) is sent to every Indian Education high school student on Fridays.  Additionally, parents/guardians whose emails are registered in Infinite CAMPUS will also receive the e-Newsletter.  Subscribe to the e-Newsletter here.

    • Calendly Online Appointment Scheduler provides students and families the option to schedule an appointment that works for their schedules.  During Distance Learning sessions can be conducted through Google Meet or via phone.  In-person student sessions are provided at the student's high school.  To schedule an appointment, please click here.

    • Social Media is used to advertise special events provided through the Indian Education School Counseling Program, such as upcoming college visits, special speakers, Right Track summer job information session, and more.  Please visit our Facebook site and follow us for updated information.  We also use Twitter (SPPS_IndianEd) and Instagram (spps_indianeducation) to post information

    • SPPS Indian Education Calendar contains special events, including the School Counseling Program special events.  The calendar is located on the SPPS Indian Education main website (landing page).

    • BlackBoard Connect (aka Robocall) is used to deliver messages to all of our high school students and families.  The SPPS Blackboard system will call, text, and email the primary household member as designated in Infinite CAMPUS.  Families are strongly encouraged to provide SPPS with up-to-date contact information to ensure that messages are being delivered to the correct phone/email account.  To review contact information, please visit this website.  Messages may include an invitation to participate in counseling groups, events, and field trips.

    • Schoology is used to communicate with students/families regarding Indian Education School Counseling direct services.  During Distance Learning, students who are participating in online counseling groups will automatically be added to a Schoology group and receive updates and meeting reminders.  During in-person learning, Kerrie will automatically add students into a Schoology group by school and publish updates, visit schedule, and reminders.  Parents/guardians will be able to view the information through their Schoology connection.  For more information from SPPS on Schoology, please click here.

    • On Site Counseling Office Hours - when we are in-person learning, Kerrie will be visiting high schools on a rotating basis.  Students can sign up to meet individually with Kerrie by using the Calendly site; however, students may also drop-in to request support and information.  Counseling office location information will be posted on the Calendly appointment confirmation page.  Schools with at least seven Indian Education students will receive counseling group/classroom services through the Indian Education School Counselor.

    • Indian Education Office Hours - when we are in-person learning, Kerrie will be available for parent/family meetings at the central Indian Education Office located in Creative Arts Secondary School (65 East Kellogg Blvd).  Parents/families can use Calendly to schedule a meeting in person, virtually, or over the phone.  If preferred, parents/families can also choose to schedule a time from one of the options below:
