Mental health and social emotional learning (SEL) are key components of both students' and staff members' well-being. After two years of interrupted learning and personal hardships, these needs are more pronounced than ever. Saint Paul Public Schools is hiring social workers and increasing staff capacity to respond to trauma, adding counselors to schools with increased needs, and providing added wellness and mental health support for students and staff.

The summary below combines the following ARP strategies:
- Mental Health and Wellness Support: Expand opportunities for students and staff to receive mental health support and reduce social and emotional barriers to learning.
- Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Support: Professional development, resources and coaching for school staff to implement Culturally Relevant Social Emotional Learning (CRSEL) within curriculum and programs and improve social emotional wellness for staff and students.
- Increasing Attendance and Engagement: Increase school attendance and engagement by building relationships with students who are at risk of failing classes and providing resources to support their social emotional needs.

Emergency Management Staff
Two full-time staff to develop and assist each school with their School Emergency Operations Plan, help schools prevent and prepare for emergencies, respond and advise during various incidents, and restore the school to normal operations as quickly and safely as possible.
