Schoology Gradebook Setup
- Create the same categories that are in Infinite Campus. (Formative, Summative, Unweighted)
- Category weights must match the preset weight in Infinite Campus. Find school specific category details here.
- Make sure Schoology Categories are calculated based on “Total Points”. (Do not use Percent!)
- Categories must be mapped in Schoology using the Infinite Campus app in the left menu, then Configuration tab.
Schoology Assignments (Use Bulk Edit for reviewing all assignments)
- Make sure the assignments in Schoology are published.
- Do NOT use factors in Schoology; use the unweighted category instead.
- Every assignment in Schoology must have a grading period and a category: Formative, Summative, or Unweighted. Not selecting a category will cause an inaccurate grade to be calculated in Infinite Campus.
- If you see an uncategorized assignment in Infininte Campus, return to Schoology to update the assignment and re-sync.
- Avoid lengthy assignment names.
- If you delete an assignment in Schoology that you have previously synced to Campus, the assignment must be manually deleted in the Campus Gradebook.
- Do NOT use the “Turned in Flag” in Schoology as it currently doesn’t sync correctly with Infinite Campus.
Check Sync Log (Clipboard icon) to check for errors often
Assignment scores are not to be edited in the Infinite Campus Gradebook (they should be edited in Schoology and re-sync to Infinite Campus.
Linked sections in Schoology have to be synced individually.
Teachers should sync grades frequently, ideally after entering grades in Schoology.
Teachers will post grades in Campus twice per quarter to the mid-quarter task and course grade task (end of quarter).
-
Grade Sync: The transfer of gradebook assignment data from Schoology to Infinite Campus.
Grading Category: A group of assignments. Each category has its own aggregated grade calculated from the assignments. Read more about category weights here. There are three categories for grades 6-12: Formative, Summative and Unweighted.
Gradebook Scale: The scale that translates the in-progress percentage to a letter grade.
In-Progress Grade: A calculation based on assignment scores entered in Schoology and sync'd to Infinite Campus Gradebook.
Posted Grade: A finalized grade in Infinite Campus that is displayed on a student's report card.
Grading Task: A type of grade that teachers post during a specific time in the quarter. The grading tasks for 6-12 grades are:
- Mid-Quarter: Reported half-way through the quarter from the in-progress grade.
- Course Grade: Reported at the end of the quarter from the in-progress grade. All assignments must be aligned to this task.
How to Post Grades
-
In-Progress Grades need to be posted to the Mid-Quarter and Course Grade grading tasks in Campus. Grades synced from Schoology do NOT automatically post.
Posting grades transfers grades (letter and %) from the Infinte Campus Gradebook to students' Grade tab (used for report cards). Access to post grades will be open for specific windows each term per the Secondary Grading Calendar.
