Parent volunteers needed!
Volunteers are needed to lead 2nd grade classroom discussions about art pieces as part of the Minnesota Institute of Art's Art Adventure program. The goal of the program is to develop critical thinking skills in students by engaging them in discussions about art.
Second graders will discuss artwork from the “How People Lived” series at school throughout October and November, then see the pieces in person during fieldtrips to MIA in late November.
Volunteers attend free training at MIA, which covers the art pieces to be presented as well as tips on how to lead student discussions. Volunteers usually show two pieces of art during each classroom session. Sessions last about 30 minutes - and the students do almost all of the talking!
