    Homework for the week of November 26th-November 30th

    1. Do 2 current events for the week-due November 30th. Your international one needs to be about Canada and the other one can be about anything you want.

    2. We will be working the next few days on your Canada slide show project until Wednesday and then we will start presenting them on Wednesday. You are responsible for taking notes on each project.

    Homework for the week of November 26th-November 30th

    1. We will be starting to work on History Day this week. We will be exploring possible topics.

    2. We will be having a quiz on the events leading up to the Civil War on Wednedsday.

    3. We will continue to study the Civil War on Thursday and Friday.

     

     

     

    Global Studies

    Homework for the week of November 12th-November 15th

    1. Do 2 current events for the week-due Thursday, November 15th. Your international one needs to be about Canada and the other one can be about anything you want.

    2. Your map of Canada is due Tuesday, November 13th.

    3. We will be writing some notes on Canada on Tuesday and part of Wednesday.

    4. We will be watching a movie on Canada the end of the week.

     

    In These Times

    1. We will be taking notes on the day's news and discussing it. This will happen every day.

    2. This week we will be reading about, discussing and writing about lowering the voting age and activist athletes.

     

    American Studies

    1. We will be talking about the run-up to the Civil War and reading articles about it. Students will do a jigsaw exercise with these articles.

    2. We will discuss the election of 1860 and how Lincoln was elected and the repercussions for the south.

    3. Beginnings of the war-Fort Sumter.

     

     

     

    Homework for the week of October 29th-November 2nd

    1. Do 2 current events for the week-due Friday, November 2nd. You need to do one of your current events about an international event and the other one can be about anything you want.

    2. We will be working on our USA unit. Your map is due at the end of the hour on Monday. We will be watching a movie on the expansion of the USA-how did we get to 50 states?

    3. We will be working on a state project the rest of the week and then we will do a gallery walk.

    4. We also will be taking some class time to prepare for the Kid's Vote. We will be voting on November 5th.

     

    In These Times

    1. We will be finishing our election project and making presentations.

     

    American Studies

    1. We will be doing some work on the Mexican American War and how the USA grew to 50 states.

    2. We will be doing some work on  the lead-up to the Civil War and the election of 1860 on Thursday and Friday.

    1. Do 2 current events for the week-due THURSDAY, October 25th. No school on Friday. You need to have one international and the other one can be about anything you want.

    2. Globalization assignment-Due on WEDNESDAY, October 24th. Look around your house and find 20 items. Look at the label to see where it was made and write it down. An example would be-sweater-China and so on.

    In These Times:

    1. Continue to work on your 2018 election assignment. You should be done with them by Thursday, October 25th and ready to start presenting on Monday, October 29th.

    American Studies:

    1. Action Jackson is here for Monday and Tuesday.

    2. Gallery walk of of Lewis and Clark Native American Tribe posters. Walk around and look at them. This will take place on Wednesday.

    1. Global Studies:

    1. Do 2 current events for the week. One of your current events needs to be about an international event and the other can be about anything you want.

    2. Review sheet will be handed out Monday for our first test on Thursday, September 27th.

    3. Do a note taking assignment on the 5 themes of geography.

    4. The first test will cover the definition of geography, latitude and longitude questions as well as some geographic terms and the 5 themes of geography. You also need to be able to draw the world-7 continents and 4 oceans  by heart for 11 points.

     

    2. American Studies:

    1. 1. We will be finishing our USA maps and seeing a movie on how we got to 50 states.

    2. We will talk about slavery in the US and in the original 13 colonies.

    3. We will do some map work on the 13 colonies.

     

    3. In These Times:

    1. We will talk about the Brett Kavanaugh nomination and do some small circle discussion on what we think of it.

    2. We will do a slide show project on a world leader. You will need to research your world leader in 10 slides.

    3. Show your slide show to the class while they take notes.

    1. Your "What is History" posters are due on Tuesday. Monday is the last day to work on the posters in class.

    2. We will be reading about the Constitution and doing a seminar on Tuesday and Wednesday.

    1. Do two current events for the week-due Friday, May 25th. Your international one needs to be about a country in Asia and the other one can be about anything you want.

    2. The project for Asia will be a travel brochure about a country or city in Asia. It is due on Wednesday, May 23rd and will be worth 5 summative points. Rubric is out Monday and you will get Monday and Tuesday and possibly Wednesday in class to get it done.

    3. Test on Asia will be next week. Review sheet will be out on Thursday.

    1. Do two current events for the week-due Friday, May 18th. Your international one needs to be about a country in Asia such as Japan or India and the other one can be about anything you want.

    2. Mid-quarter grades are due this week. Get in all missing work as soon as possible.

    3. We will be starting our Asia brochure the end of this week.

     

    Homework for the week of May 7th-May 11th

    1. Do two current events for the week due on Friday, May 11th. Your international one needs to be about a country in Asia such as China, India or Japan and the other one can be about anything you want.

    2. We're starting a new unit on Asia so we will be doing a travel brochure on a country or city in Asia as our unit project. More details to follow.

    3.. It's mid-quarter so get all missing work in as soon as possible.

     

    Homework for the week of April 30th-May 4th

    1. Do 2 current events for the week due on Friday, May 4th. Your international one needs to be about your Model UN country and the other one can be about anything you want.

    2. Your position paper on refugees in your country was due last Friday. Make sure you complete your paper because our Model UN conference is this Friday.

     

    Homework for the week of April 16th-April 20th

    1. Do two current events for the week due on Friday, April 20th. Your international one needs to be about something happening in your Model Un nation and your other one can be about anything you want.

    2. Your Model UN research packet is due at the beginning of class on Tuesday, April 17th.

    3. We will begin writing our Model UN country position papers on refugees on Friday, April 27th

    2. We will be doing our readings on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission on Monday and watching a South African documentary from South Africa on Tuesday in preparation for our Socratic Seminar on Wednesday. Thursday we will be doing a reading on the water shortage in Capetown, South Africa.

    3. No school Friday because of parent/teacher conferences.

    4. 3rd quarter is over on Thursday, March 29th.

    2. This week we will be playing a Scramble for Africa game, listening to a TED talk by a Nigerian writer called "Danger of a Single Story" and also doing some readings about the Truth and Reconciliation Commision in South Africa in preparation for our Socratic Seminar on March 20th.

    1. Do 2 current events for the week-due Friday, March 9th. Your international one needs to be about a country in Africa and the other one can be about anything you want.

    1. Do 2 current events for the week-due on Thursday, March 1st. Your international one needs to be about a country in Europe or in Africa and your other one can be about anything you want.

    2. The Europe test will be on Wednesday, February 28th. The map part is not open book but the other part is. Your essay will be about your European Union country and whether or not you think that it really belongs in the EU.

    3. We will be starting our new unit on Africa on March 1st.

     

    Homework for the week of February 20th-February 23rd

    1. Do two current events for the week-due on Friday, February 23rd. Your international one needs to be about a country in Europe and the other one can be about anything that you want.

    2. Your European Union project presentations will begin on Thursday. Convince us that your country belongs in the EU!

    3. You will have the Europe test next Tuesday. Review sheet for the test will come out on Friday. Part of the test will be open note and the map part will not be open note. Make sure that you have the Europe notes and that you are able to write a 3 paragraph essay about whether or not you really believe that your EU country belongs in the EU.

    1. Do two current events for the week-due Friday, January 12th. Your international one needs to be about a country in Central America or about an island country in the Caribbean. Your second current event can be about anything you want. We will be going back to our current event circles this Friday.

    2. Continue to work on either your country project or your History Day project. Both projects are due on Tuesday, February 13th. See me if you have any questions. Country projects can be done on either google slides or google docs or on paper if you choose.

    3. All late and missing work needs to be turned in by Wednesday, December 13th. Mid-quarter grades are due the end of this week!

    2. Our first geography test will be on THURSDAY, September 28th. Make sure that you have your study guide. This first test is NOT open note.

     

    Homework for the week of September 18th-September 22nd

    1. Do 2 current events for the week due on Schoology by Friday morning at 8:30am. One of your current events needs to be an international one and the other one can be about anything you want-a local story, a national story or another international one. Be prepared on Friday to discuss your current events in your current events circles.

    2. We will be taking chapter notes from our textbook this week because learning to take good notes is important for sucess in 9th grade social studies. according to numerous 9th graders who have come back to visit. You will get class time to take these notes but if you don't finish in class you will need to finish at home.

     

     Homework for the week of September 11th-September 15th

    1. Do 2 current events for the week. For this week only, you can do your current events on paper. Next week, you will be doing all of your current events on Schoology. You can do them on Schoology this week if you want to. You are responsible for doing one international current event per week and then the other one can be on anything you want. We did the international one for the week on the earthquake in Mexico. Your current events are due on Friday, September 15th by 11:59. It's worth 4 points.

    2. Read the chapter on the Physical Geography of Central America or the Caribbean pages 188-191 and do 1-4 on page 191. This is also due on Friday, January 6th. This is also on schoology.

    2. Read pages 16-20 in the textbook. The chapter is entitled The Branches of Geography. Do 1-4 on page 20. This is also due on Friday, September 23rd. You can take pictures of the chapter pages on the whiteboard, use my copied chapters, use the online book, or check out a textbook from the library.
