• Scholarship

    • Maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher for the remainder of your high school career
      • If your GPA falls below 3.5, you will be under "probation" and will need to get your grades up by the next semester.
    • Maintain academic integrity throughout your high school career
    • Academic dishonesty is grounds for dismissal from NHS


    • Completion of a senior project
    • Involvement as a leader in another organization is strongly encouraged


    • Maintain exemplary standing in school and community.
    • Abide by the Como Park Senior High School and SPPS student conduct rules (see Rights and Responsibilities Handbook)
    • Maintain academic integrity
    • Demonstrate concern and care for others


    • Attendance at the Induction Ceremony of future NHS inductees and the Pinning Ceremony for the seniors
    • Attendance at bimonthly meetings (don't miss unless you have explained the reason to a board member)


    • $20 annual dues paid by members to the chapter [to help pay for ceremonies, graduation stoles, and transportation to group service projects]
    • Participate in other fundraising activities

    School Service Hours    10 hours/school year

    • Induction/Pinning Preparation and Set-up
    • Open house nights
    • Tutoring at CPSHS
    • Helping with teacher projects

    Community Service Hours   30 hours/school year

    • Service projects of your choice in the community
    • Tutoring at elementary and middle schools
    • Community charity events help
    • Can include more hours served at school

    NHS Senior Projects

    • Lead by seniors [planning, organizing, contacts, evaluation, etc.]
    • Provide volunteer opportunities for juniors
    • Major categories: school enhancement, tutoring, environmental, charitable projects, assistance

    Summer Service Hours   10 hours

    • Service site of your choice
    • Opening week activities are required [freshman orientation, locker set-up, and teacher assistance]
