Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor degree in Music Education, University of Minnesota Masters degree in Music Education, Boston University
This is my 9th year teaching band at Capitol Hill and my 21st year teaching in St. Paul. I have my bachelors degree in music education from the University of Minnesota and also a masters in music education from Boston University. In my free time I enjoy going to see live music, biking, and hiking. My primary instrument is saxophone.
Band at Capitol Hill is open to all students in 4th-8th grade. I teach 2 elementary bands (beginning and advanced) as well as 3 middle school bands (beginning/cougar band, intermediate/varsity band, and advanced/concert band). Elementary band recruiting and registration will take place over the first 3-4 weeks of school. Parents of 4th and 5th grade students should look for the elementary band screening form by the end of the first week of school. A sign-up form will be sent home after an instrument has been selected.
I would also like to acknowledge our fantastic PTO who has generously funded many items for the band program; including our chairs and stands, bass drum, xylophone, sound shells, and more!
Finally, don't forget to keep an eye on the school calendar on the main Capitol Hill page for all our concert dates. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 651-744-7253 with any questions you may have about the band program. I look forward to a wonderful year of music making!
