Affirming Student Names on MCAs
Affirming Student Names on MCAs
There is a process to allow students to have their preferred name visible within the Online MCA testing platform for those who have their preferred name listed in Campus, under the field "nickname." For some students, this is a very important aspect of respecting their identity and we would like to bring this practice into testing. For this testing year, MCA tests can have the preferred name, as listed in Campus, appear on testing tickets and in the testing app upon request.
-
If you work with students who have a nickname in Campus that they want used as their preferred name for Online MCA testing, fill out this Google Form for them, or if it's developmentally appropriate, have the students fill it out for themselves.
-
Please keep in mind that these are not new preferred name requests to enter into Campus but rather requests to have their nickname as it appears in Campus be the name visible to them during Online MCA testing. This request will only go to Jessica Lang, SPPS District Test Coordinator, who will manually enter the "nickname" field into the MCA testing system.
Click here for more information for students who would like to go through the process of adding a nickname or changing a Display Name in Campus. Please read more about the Gender Inclusion Policy to learn more about affirming a student’s gender information including their name.
Where will their Preferred Name (Nickname) appear:
- Student Testing Tickets
- Test Session Student Rosters
- TestNav - app students use to take the MCAs

Their Preferred Name (Nickname) will NOT appear on any results reports nor their ISRs (Individual Student Results)
