Using the Compass and Picture Books in Your PreK-5 Anti-Racist Classroom

This four-session virtual course will offer opportunities to refresh your own understanding of the Compass (or learn it for the first time), connect with colleagues around picture books, absent narratives and diverse representations, and practice incorporating the Compass into your instructional practices. Teachers will receive 3 picture books for using the compass with students and will receive curriculum pay for completed hours for the workshop. 2021-2022 Cohort
Refresh your own understanding of the Compass (or learn it for the first time), connect with colleagues around picture books, absent narratives and diverse representation, and practice incorporating the Compass into your instructional practices. Each session will include ideas for using the Compass with students, and work time with colleagues to create short lesson plans. Participants are expected to attend all three sessions. All participants are provided with three free picture books and workshop pay. Spanish and Hmong books available.
