St. Paul Public Schools Undergraduate Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teaching
Saint Paul Public Schools in partnership with the University of St. Thomas is developing an undergraduate non-traditional pathway to teaching Elementary and Special Education.
SPPS Undergraduate Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teaching is currently in a 1-year development phase supported by an MDE Teacher Residencies and Apprenticeships Planning Grant.
SPPS Undergraduate Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teaching aims to recruit, prepare and retain highly qualified teachers who share similar life experiences as our diverse student population in SPPS. This pathway will provide an affordable, two-year program inclusive of University instruction and job-embedded learning to earn a Minnesota teaching license and undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas.
Criteria for Application: SPPS Undergraduate Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teaching pilot cohort will be open to individuals employed by SPPS who already hold an Associates of Arts Degree (AA).
Projected Application Window: Projected application window for SPPS Undergraduate Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teaching pilot cohort will be February-March 2025.
Projected Start Date: Projected start date for SPPS Undergraduate Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teaching is June, 2025.
Licenses Offered: Elementary Education K-6 and Special Education Academic & Behavior Strategist (ABS) K-12
