Payroll Deductions

The payroll schedule provides up to date information related to when certain deductions are withheld from paychecks.

Union Dues - For teachers, EAs, and School/Community Professionals, union dues are taken each payroll.  For all other bargaining groups, union dues are taken once per month. (Refer to the payroll schedule for which payday of the month dues will be taken.)  The amount of your union dues is determined by the respective union.

Benefits/Insurance Deductions - Generally insurance deductions are taken twice a month, however because may employees are paid over 10 months and receive 12 months of coverage, there are variations when deductions are or are not taken.  10 month employees who do not receive regular pay during the summer months have their portion of the insurance premiums for deducted from January through June each year to cover July - Sept premiums.  Specific benefit information and forms are available on the Benefits Webpage.

TSA Deductions - Employees can participate in a 403(b) or 457 tax sheltered account.  Go to the separate TSA Webpage for additional information and forms related to 403(b) and 457 plans, including employer match eligibility.

Taxes - See the separate Tax Information webpage for withholding election forms, tax tables, and additional information. Update your tax withholding through Employee Self Service

Wage Garnishments - Wage garnishments including child support and tax levies are deducted according to the specific garnishment order.  Contact payroll@spps.org if you have specific questions related to a wage garnishment.

Summer Pay / 26 Pay - 10 Month employees may elect to have a portion of their paychecks deducted during the school year and paid to them over the summer.  Teachers should use the 26 pay form and EAs and TAs should use the Summer Pay form available on the "Pay Options" page of the payroll website.

Direct Deposit - Employees may elect to have specific amounts from their paycheck go to multiple checking or savings account or they can have the entire net pay go into an account.  Direct deposit is extremely reliable and secure.  With direct deposit, you pay is automatically deposited to your account(s) on payday.  Update your direct deposit information through Employee Self Service, or complete the direct deposit form available on the "Pay Options" page of the payroll website.
