Facilities Portfolio Analysis
Facilities Advisory Taskforce
Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) is embarking on the critical work of developing its next Strategic Plan, a roadmap that will guide our priorities, investments and focus areas for years to come. A portion of this work involves a Facilities Portfolio Analysis. The district is seeking individuals to participate on a taskforce to analyze our facilities.
To ensure every student has access to an equitable and high-quality education, SPPS is beginning a collaborative process to review our district buildings and create a long-term plan that ensures our facilities are aligned with our academic programs and the number of students we serve.
The end goal is to identify ways to more efficiently invest our resources based on our anticipated student enrollment. At the end of this process, it may be determined that some schools need to be repurposed, consolidated and/or closed.
What will members of the taskforce do?
Members of the Facilities Taskforce will serve in an advisory role. The taskforce will help create the criteria that will be used to make these important decisions and provide input to district leadership.
Members will review and analyze data from various sources including, but not limited to:
- Community input
- Demographic studies
- Building utilization
- Academic programming
- City geographic overview, etc.
The taskforce ensures that diverse perspectives—from students, families, staff and community partners—will inform the development of the Facilities Portfolio Analysis. Superintendent Stacie Stanley will present the final plan to the Board of Education for adoption in August 2027. Any changes to the district’s facilities will occur after the 2027-28 school year.
