College and Career Readiness
The Office of College and Career Readiness (OCCR) works to encourage SPPS students of all ages to understand that preparation for greatness in college, career, and/or community is achievable with the right planning, preparation, support, and accountability. SPPS students benefit from our strong school counseling program, the creation of personal learning plans (PLPs), a wide array of post-secondary partnerships and invaluable opportunities allowing them to explore career and technical education.
Career and Technical Education
Career and Technical Education (CTE) provides quality, relevant, rigorous educational programming that prepares learners for high-wage, high-skill and in-demand careers.
SPPS Career Pathways
Each comprehensive high school will offer four Career Fields with at least one Career Pathway for each field. Career Fields allow students to gain foundational career knowledge and skills.
School Counseling
School Counselors are uniquely qualified to address all students’ academic, career and social/emotional development needs.
Personal Learning Plans
Students document their interests, strengths, & values and connect those to course taking plans, career development activities, and career and postsecondary education aspirations.
