Alternative to Expulsion Program
The Alternative to Expulsion Program (A2E) is designed only for students who have been recommended for expulsion.
Program Length
Typically, students attend A2E for up to 45 school days. Schools should mark attendance in Campus as A2E.
Who is eligible for the program
Students in grades 2-12 who have engaged in an expellable offense and have been referred by the Systems of Support Committee.
Coursework
Students receive small group direct instruction in the areas of Math, Science, Social Studies, ELA, Health and electives. In addition, students meet weekly with a school Social Worker. Students with IEPs will receive special education services as well as accommodations and modifications in their classes. IEP’s should reflect a homebound setting for general education students and Federal Setting I for students receiving Special Education Services while in the program.
Transportation
The A2E program is located within the Journeys Secondary School building. Transportation will be provided to and from the program and will be set up during the intake process.
Program completion
Upon successful completion of the program, a record of credits earned will be sent to the counselor at the student’s home school. School staff will work with the family and the school to successfully transition the student back into the traditional school environment.
