Summer Learning Programs

Grades K-12 Summer Learning Programs help students strengthen academic and social emotional skills, discover new talents and recover high school credits.

Register for Summer Learning Programs

All programs are FREE and include:

Academic Support & Enrichment - Students will be inspired to learn new skills and increase their current understanding of reading, math and other subjects while discovering new interests and talents and making new friends.
Breakfast and Lunch - All students receive two free healthy meals daily that include entrees, salads, baked goods and locally grown fruits and vegetables.
Transportation - Transportation is available to most students who live in Saint Paul (within transportation guidelines).
Schedule -
- Elementary and middle school programs are Monday through Friday, June 23 - July 24; Freedom School is June 23 - July 31.
- High school Session 1 is June 23 - July 23 (in-person or online); Session 2 is July 28 - August 13, online only.

Grades K-8 Summer Registration

K-8 Priority Registration: March 12 - April 13, 2026

When registering, choose a program that matches your student's current grade level during the 2025-26 school year.
Priority is given to families who register by April 13.
If space is available, families may continue to register K-8 students after April 13.
Enrollment confirmation and transportation will be sent via email.

Online Registration

Online registration is preferred. Only current SPPS families may apply online using Campus Parent Portal.

To enroll multiple students for a Summer Learning Program, complete the online registration for each student in your household before submitting the online form.

If changes need to be made after submitting the online registration, complete a paper registration form.

Paper Registration

Non-SPPS families must complete a paper registration form. Current SPPS families have the option to register for summer online or complete a paper registration form.

How to Register

When registering, choose a program that matches your student's current grade level during the 2025-26 school year.

Some Summer Learning Programs have limited space, which may result in waitlists. All registrations submitted between March 12 and April 13 are entered into a lottery to determine enrollment. Students who meet eligibility criteria as defined by Minnesota statute 124.68d receive priority in this process.

Families will receive either an enrollment confirmation or waitlist notification beginning May 1.

Please note that submitting a registration during the priority window does not guarantee a spot in high-demand programs. If a program reaches capacity, families will have the opportunity to select an alternate Summer Learning option.

SPPS STUDENTS
Families with students currently enrolled in an SPPS school may register for a Summer Learning Program online through Campus Parent Portal or complete a paper registration form.

NON-SPPS STUDENTS
Families with students who are not currently enrolled in an SPPS school must complete a paper registration form:

Grades 9-12 (High School)

SPPS Students

SPPS high school counselors will enroll SPPS students into a Summer Learning Program. Families will receive an email confirmation for every student enrolled.

NON-SPPS Students

Non-SPPS high school counselors enroll their students into an SPPS summer program. Contact Candy.Pagel@spps.org for more information.

Pre-K

SPPS does not have Summer Learning Programs for students who attended Pre-K during the 2025-26 school year. Below are summer programs in the community. Families should contact organizations directly for more information.

Helpful Information for Families

Transportation Information

Families will be emailed transportation pick-up and drop-off information. This information will also become available in Campus Parent Portal after June 18. If you believe your student is taking the bus but did not receive an email by June 18, please call Transportation at 651-696-9600.

Please arrive at the bus stop five minutes before the bus is scheduled to pick up your student. If your bus has not arrived within 10 minutes of your scheduled pickup time, contact Transportation at 651-696-9600 for assistance. Please make a plan with your student in the event that they miss the bus.
