SPPS Summer Learning Programs are your opportunity to learn new and strengthen current academic skills and prepare for the upcoming school year through active, fun and hands-on activities.
Program Dates
- Programs start Tuesday, June 24
- No programs on Friday, July 4
Free Meals
All students receive a free breakfast and lunch at school.
Transportation
Transportation is available to most students who live in Saint Paul.
Priority Registration: March 14-April 14
- Priority is given to families who register K-8 students by April 14. If space is available, families may continue to register K-8 students after April 14, 2025.
- When registering, choose a program that matches your student's current grade level during the 2024-25 school year.
- Paper registration forms will be available March 14
- Enrollment confirmation and transportation will be sent via email.

Grades K-5 Summer Learning Programs
Students will extend their school-year learning through active, fun and hands-on experiences. The program includes activities in math, coding, reading, physical education, economics, health, arts, and studies about Minnesota plants and animals. Small group literacy instruction, community partnerships providing enrichment opportunities, and field trips support discovery of new talents, skills and interests.
Students currently enrolled in SPPS language immersion or dual-language programs qualify to attend. Students receive instruction in both English and the language (French, Hmong, Mandarin Chinese or Spanish) taught at their school, along with cultural studies and summer-themed activities.
This program partners with the SPPS Department of Indian Education and the Department of Indian Work to immerse students in Native American history, heritage, arts and language. Participants learn from Indigenous teachers and leaders. Included in this program are culturally specific enriching field trips, guest speakers, healthy eating, arts and crafts, daily smudging and indigenous games. Students will gain a deep appreciation for their heritage and pride in their culture. Open to all students with an interest in Native American culture.
The Power Scholars Academy summer program combines academic instruction with fun, hands-on enrichment activities, field trips and community service projects. The program is designed to help students gain new academic skills so they can excel during the next school year. This program is developed in collaboration with the YMCA and Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood.
Arts Us with Camp Teranga is a 5-week young artist summer camp aimed at exposing youth to the art, cultures and sciences of the African Diaspora. Through workshops with professional artists, experiential learning activities and youth service leadership projects, students will grow their own healthy identities through an Afrocentric lens. Workshops include drumming, storytelling, STEM, dance and more.
Students experience hands-on activities and field trips with a focus on environmental science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Classes and activities include engineering, coding, construction, sports, environmental studies, cooking and working with computers. This program is sponsored by 3M and includes multiple STEM-themed field trips.
