Welcome to Grow Our Own, the SPPS program growing garden and food-based education in the classroom, cafeteria and community.

Grow Our Own provides resources, assistance and guidance for edible school garden development through coordination of SPPS departments and community partners.

Why Are We Growing?

Because our students are worth it. Research shows that kids do better when they spend time in nature and learn where their food comes from—and how long it takes to grow. School gardens give students a hands-on way to learn about food and care for the world around them.

Grow Our Own brings together resources from SPPS and the community to help schools succeed with their gardens. The program helps schools build a team of teachers, families, and community members so the planning, work, and benefits of school gardens are shared by everyone.
