Data Privacy Practices
SPPS Student and Family Data Practices
Family Contact Information and Data
Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) family contact information, student demographic data and permissions are collected through annual Back to School Forms managed and secured by the student information system (Infinite Campus). Student and family data is protected and accessible to SPPS staff and departments based on job duties, needs and permissions. To read more about Back to School Forms, visit spps.org/onestop.
Any and all family contact information, including phone numbers, emails, addresses and similar information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Families receive regular district updates, news and announcements via email, phone and text. Critical updates are communicated through all channels provided.
Families can opt out of receiving any district communications by unsubscribing from emails or texting “STOP” to text messages.
- To opt back in to district phone calls: Call the Finalsite phone hotline at "855-502-STOP (855-502-7867)" from the phone line that has been opted out.
- Text (SMS) messages: Send START to "60680" from the phone line that has been opted out for non-emergency messages. Reply START to "54968" for emergency messages.
Student Accounts and Data Access
SPPS uses apps and websites to support a variety of instructional goals. External vendors provide tools to transform and personalize the learning environment for all students. These vendors have limited and monitored access to SPPS’ student information system (Infinite Campus). This limited access allows generation and access to student accounts as well distribution and organization of educational resources for students. Student data is not sold or compromised in this process. In compliance with federal educational guidelines, all digital tools accessing student data must be approved for content quality and student data privacy guidelines. More information can be found at spps.org/apps.
Student Digital Citizenship
SPPS is committed to providing a safe and positive digital learning experience for students and staff. To learn more about Digital Citizenship and best practices of data sharing and security, visit the Digital Citizenship Toolkit at spps.org/digitalcitizenship.
