My name is Jamie Williams and this is my 6th year at Wellstone, my 5th year as a 5th grade teacher. I am excited to get a chance to work with all of these bright young people this year!
I was born and grew up in St. Paul. I am a proud product of St. Paul Public Schools. I stayed in Minnesota to study at St. Olaf College in Northfield. I live with my husband and my 1 year old daughter, with whom I love to spend all of my time. When she's napping, I like to read, laugh with my husband, and watch sports. I am a hometown team kind of girl and so, Go Twins, Vikings, Wolves and Lynx! I'm not really into hockey, but Go Wild too!
Before coming to Wellstone, I was a director of the Midway YMCA School Age Program. While there, I adopted the character building philosophy of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. I try to instill those character traits, along with others, in my classroom. Teaching students to work together as a community is just as important to me as teaching math, reading, and writing.
As students prepare for middle school next year, the 5th grade team is doing our best to provide them with academic rigor and the skills they will need to be successful. 5th grade is not easy, it requires critical thinking and trying your best. My job is to help each student reach their maximum potential, and I will do my best because I love seeing all students succeed.
I look forward to working with each student and each family, thank you for allowing me this opportunity!
