College and Career Readiness
The primary focus of career development activities in elementary schools is career awareness and exploration. To develop career awareness we must create an environment where students see connections between school and the real world.
Middle School Students Plan
Really? I need to think about life after high school while my child is in middle school?
Yes, you really do. Research shows that the progress a child makes towards post-secondary and career readiness by the end of eighth grade is critical to their future success. In one study, only 2 out of 10 eighth graders were on track for successful college-level course work by the time they completed eighth grade.
Regardless of the institutions your teens want to attend, make sure that they take challenging
courses in high school. The variety and academic level of the courses your teens
take in high school and the grades they receive are a very important part of college applications.
