Grab your bookmarks... Farnsworth 6th-8th graders now have a new reading program!
SPPS Middle School Libraries were awarded a grant for $700 each to buy new books for their libraries. The catch? Ms. Vogel cannot spend a penny of that money without the help of students. Students can help Ms. Vogel choose books for the library by reading and writing a review to post in the Farnsworth Library Schoology Group or in the Farnsworth 5-8 library. For every review a student writes, they can pick out a new book for their school library AND be the first one to read it.
7th graders, it’s time to start History Day research! The 2019 History Day theme is “Triumph and Tragedy in History.” Check out the SPPS History Day LibGuide for step-by-step help through the research process. Remember: your friendly librarian Ms. Vogel and your awesome social studies teachers Mr. Ray, Mr. Kihega, and Ms. O'Daniel are happy to help!
8th graders are also invited to participate in History Day. Remember, all St. Paul students participate in History Day research again in 11th grade, and all 6th-12th students who complete have the opportunity will win their way to the National History Day competitions in Maryland and earn college scholarships and national research prizes.
The Farnsworth Aerospace 5-8 History Day Competition will be held on January 18th. Families are invited to come and watch all performances and presentations. To volunteer to be a History Day judge, please contact Karrah O'Daniel at firstname.lastname@example.org.
