Ms. Courtney Gbolo
The 2018-19 school year is my 12th year of teaching and 2nd year at Como Park. As a resident of Saint Paul I feel very lucky to serve the families and students in Saint Paul. I graduated in 2006 from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a Degree in Family Consumer Science Education and a Minor in Health and Fitness. In May of 2011 I completed my Master’s degree in Education through Hamline University. My capstone project focused on incorporating literacy into content area classes. For fun I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three daughters. Also, I enjoy athletics (watching and playing), cooking for family/friends, and reading a good book.

About ProStart/Culinary Arts
Culinary 1 & 2 follow the curriculum outlined in the Foundations of Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management. The ProStart program is designed by the National Restaurant Association. The program is designed to give students real-world educational opportunities in culinary techniques and management skills. ProStart gives opportunities beyond the classroom. Students have the opportunity to participate in the ProStart invitational, earn a certificate of achievement, work with industry professionals, and receive scholarships.
Certificate of Achievement:
Students have the opportunity to be eligible for the ProStart Certificate of Achievement from the National Restaurant Association. Students who meet the basic requirements listed below are eligible for hundreds of dollars in scholarships, as well as credit exchanges with qualifying schools. Basic requirements for the certificate include:
-Take Culinary 1
-Pass Year 1 exam
-Take Advanced Culinary 2
-Pass Year 2 exam
-Complete 400 hours of work experience
