Profe. Angela Butler
Hola! Me llamo Profesora (Profe) Butler.
I started taking Spanish in 10th grade because the other electives I chose to take were already full. I continued to study Spanish because I though it would be useful to know. The more I studied the more interested I became in the language, culture, dance, and music.
I have lived in Chile, Brazil, and Spain; and traveled to Scotland, England, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and throughout the United States. I spent my summers in Lander, WY and I absolutely love the mountains & outdoor activities.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree & a Certificate of Equity & Diversity from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of St. Thomas. I am getting another master´s degree from MN State University, Mankato in Spanish.
I have worked and volunteered in the Minneapolis public schools (mostly at the high school level) as well as developed and implemented the K-4 Spanish curriculum with two colleagues in district #197. I have been teaching for 16 years: two in elementary and the rest of my career has been in a high school setting.
I teach group fitness after school, so I like to bring a mind and body balance to the classroom. You can expect to be moving around and taking deep breaths to get your body energized to learn. Students in Spanish 2, 3, 4 & 5 practice Yoga en Español.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my son (a junior at Highland Senior), dog, and family. I also enjoy riding my Harley, hiking, and traveling. I am very excited to learn about your goals, hopes and dreams as we challenge ourselves en la clase de Español.
I will be using SCHOOLOGY for all curriculum.
