At Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS), our mission is both bold and simple: to inspire students to think critically, pursue their dreams and change the world.
SPPS is one of Minnesota's largest school districts serving more than 35,000 students. Highly trained and deeply dedicated staff, cutting-edge academic programs, and strong community support are among the district’s hallmarks. At SPPS, our student population is diverse. Our students speak more than 125 languages, sharing their ideas and cultures with their classmates and teachers every single day.
What we offer:
Early Childhood Family Engagement (ECFE): Together, parents and children, newborn to kindergarten age, participate in activities and experiences that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language skills.
Full-Day Pre-Kindergarten: SPPS has 35 Pre-K programs, including Montessori, language immersion, International Baccalaureate and community school programs.
Before and After School Childcare: Discovery Club is a fee-based child care program that supports learning and development before and/or after school, on non-school days and during summer.
Regional and District Magnets: Magnet schools focus core subjects such as reading, math and science around specialized content areas, such as language immersion, aerospace and the arts. In most cases, these programs are available from kindergarten through grade 12.
English Langauge Learner Programs: English language development and education for students whose home language is not English (approximately 30 percent of SPPS students).
Special Education Services: Students with disabilities deserve the same school experience as their peers in general education/traditional classrooms.
College and Career Readiness: Students can participate in dual credit options, career and technical education, and rigorous course work leading to college credit, certification, and/or industry credentials.
Breakfast and Lunch: School meals are made from scratch with a focus on local ingredients and a wide selection of whole grains, low-fat
dairy, fruits and vegetables. Diverse menus include recipes from our own community, such as chicken suqaar, Hmong
beef fried rice and Thai sweet and sour chicken.
Summer Learning Programs: Students will have opportunities to learn new things and strengthen current academic skills; prepare for the upcoming school year through active, fun and hands-on activities; and make progress toward graduation.
Parent Advisory Councils (PACs): Parents and community members work together to build an active partnership and dialogue between parents and district administration.
Student Engagement and Advancement Board (SEAB): The Student Engagement and Advancement Board works on multiple initiatives each year to increase student voice in decision making at the Board and Administration level.
