Karrah O'Daniel

As a teacher, I am passionate about teaching about the world as it is and was with honesty and grit. I am not afraid to help students delve into learning challenging topics, and I am incredibly insistent in the importance of learning about the relevance of what we are studying and the multiple perspectives at play. I believe in activism and the power of questioning the status quo. I have taught most subjects in Social Studies, but my favorite course is American History.

I make sure my students are aware that I do not choose their grade, they do. I just record it in the database. It is up to them to earn the grade that they want. Their grade in my class is 100% in their own control.

Students in my classes can look forward to History Day (7th) and Geography Bee (8th)

Outside of teaching I am a mom to three wonderful children. I sing opera in my free time and I enjoy wearing high heels.

I started teaching in 2009, as a music teacher at the Opus Institute of Chicago. I began at Farnsworth in 2016.

This school year I am teaching 8th grade Foundations, Global Studies, and American Studies.

Farnsworth is a wonderful school brimming with highly qualified educators who are exceedingly passionate about helping their students thrive. Working with such extraordinary colleagues on a daily basis is one of the main reasons that I love teaching at Farnsworth.
