SPPS offers students many ways to continue learning after the school day ends. One of the most popular options is the district’s Extended Day for Learning, or EDL.
EDL provides a combination of academic support and learning activities for two days each week (Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays), immediately following the school day. Each day’s EDL session lasts one hour and 45 minutes, and students receive snacks and transportation. There is no charge for EDL.
Students in EDL receive math and reading support – and much more. Depending on grade level and the school they attend, they may also participate in FIRST Lego League, instrumental music instruction, or Freedom Schools Express. EDL is a great way for students to make new friends, improve skills for school, and learn to be creative, active and healthy.
