Dear 4th Grade Students!
My name is Ms. Kacky. It’s actually Kathryn, but my little sister could not say Kathryn when she was little, so she called me Kacky…and it stuck! I am from Denver, Colorado. I have an older sister named Sydney, a younger sister named Ellen and a younger brother named Paul. I have two nephews in 8th and 10th grade, and a niece who is a senior in high school. My parents are also in Colorado. I miss them terribly and go home to visit as often as I can!
I live in Plymouth, MN, which is about a 45 minute drive to and from work. But, I get to see you guys every day, so it’s worth it! I have a husband named Tony, and we have three handsome, crazy and rambunctious little boys. Charlie is 9 ½ and he is starting fourth grade this year...just like you guys! Teddy is 8 ½ and he is starting third grade. Gus is 6 ½ , is about to start first grade…and they are all as cute as can be! I have discovered that being a mother has made me a better teacher. I am fiercely protective and the kids know I am their "Mama Bear" here at school. I promise to love them and take care of them as if they were my own!
I graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in Diversified Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Bilingual Education. Yes, I speak Spanish! I received my Masters in Administration from Chapman University. I have taught first, second, fifth and sixth grades throughout my 20+ years of teaching. This is my sixth year teaching 4th grade and I think they are my favorite! Their level of responsibility is growing, and their sense of self is blossoming! I was also a Literacy Coach for 4 years before coming to Horace Mann.
Here are some things you should know about me. I hate messes! I like to keep my house and classroom nice, organized and neat. I hope you do too! I learn and teach better when it is not too loud. I don’t like bullies and I don't like when people are disrespectful. I also really appreciate honesty…especially when it is hard to tell the truth!
I can’t wait to hear all about you!
