Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Mai Yang. I’ve been working in Saint Paul Public Schools since 2006 as a paraprofessional. In my first year of teaching, I taught 2nd-grade Hmong Dual Language at Jackson Elementary prior to teaching Kindergarten at Barack and Michelle Obama Elementary in 2017. I graduated from Metropolitan State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master's degree in Elementary Education from Hamline University with a focus on Culturally Responsive Teaching.
I have two beautiful children. My son, Roman is 10-year-old. My daughter, Jetlynn is 6-year-old. They are what keep me busy at home! In my spare time, I enjoy going on adventures, shopping, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. My little family likes to go camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking in the summer.
It is my mission to build on my scholar's strengths while instilling a love for learning. My classroom is a nurturing environment in which scholars will feel safe, welcome, and be successful! It's going to be an amazing year filled with lots of new friends, fun adventures, and learning for all!
