Mrs. Jaime Dery
I am a SPPS alum! I attended Phalen Lake Elementary and Franklin Elementary School.
I served 6 years in United States Navy Reserves as a Hospital Corpman at Fort Snelling.
I am originally from MN, graduated college from University of Minnesota, but moved to New York with my husband when we first married.
For the first 15 years of my teaching career, I taught science.
I started my career teaching preschool science at a museum on Long Island, New York. After teaching the little ones for 1 year I knew teaching was the field I wanted to pursue. I started graduate school at Queens College (City University of New York) in 2003, and graduated with my Masters of Art in Teaching Elementary School. That next year I started teaching science in Queens, New York.
In 2007 my daughter Kate was born and that was the same year my husband Joshua and I decided to move back to Minnesota to be closer to family.
I started my career in SPPS teaching science at Galtier Elementary, then after three years moved to Obama Elementary School. In 2012 I accepted a position as a district science specialists/coach with SPPS. I loved being a coach, helping other teachers develop their teaching craft and love of science.
After coaching for 3 years, I returned to teaching science, for two more years. In 2017, I decided to pursue a different path in my career and began looking for an elementary classroom position. I happily landed here at Hamline Elementary School.
