About SPPS Urban Teacher Residency

  • Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) and the University of St. Thomas are extremely excited about our Urban Teacher Residency (SUTR) program!

    This program aims to recruit, prepare and retain highly qualified teachers who share similar life experiences as our diverse student population in SPPS. SUTR provides an affordable, accelerated program to earn a Minnesota teaching license and master’s degree in 15 months from the University of St. Thomas.

    Application to SUTR Cohort 6 (end of May 2021-2022) is now open and closes on MARCH 5th, 2021. Please email your application materials to

    2. All unofficial transcripts
    3. Names and email addresses for two references

    Information sessions for Cohort 6 will be held at 360 Colborne OR via Zoom video conferencing from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm CST on the following dates:
