Dr. Abdisalam Adam

Dr. Adam sees his role as a public intellectual with a determination to build a strong nurturing school community that ensures success for all students. 

Dr. Adam has been with Saint Paul Public Schools since 1997 as an ELL teacher, community specialist, and administrator.  He has served as a K-12 ELL teacher at Parkway Elementary, Washington Technology, Highwood Hills Elementary, Como Park Senior High, Boys Totem Town, and Central High School. Dr. Adam also worked at the District Office in the Office of Multilingual Learning and the Office of Family Engagement and Community Partnerships.

Dr. Adam graduated from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with a B.A. degree in English as a Second Language; received his Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Cloud State University, and received his Doctor of Education (Ed.D) degree from Bethel University. He also earned his Administrative License through Bethel University.

Dr. Adam enjoys reading, soccer, and civic engagement. In addition to the United States, he has lived in Somalia, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia. He is a strong advocate for multilingualism as he speaks Somali, English, and Arabic.

 He is guided by the Somali proverb, "Lack of Education is Lack of Light," and believes every child has the right to world-class 21st Century education.
