Distance Learning Information:
We are beginning the 2020-21 school year remotely. I will not be in my office until we transition to a hybrid model. I will check email throughout the day or you can reach me via call or text to my Google Voice phone number between 8:30-4:00 on school days: 612-888-5418.
I am still available to support students and families. I will provide weekly, asynchronous counseling lessons for each grade. They can be found in their daily assignments on SeeSaw or Schoology.
Please contact me directly if you would like to discuss additional support for your child. I will meet with individual students by appointment using Google Meet - scroll down for counseling guidelines for Google Meet.
I will also have office hours for students to drop in to say "hello", ask a question, or request an appointment. Office hours are open to the entire grade so personal topics will not be discussed at those times. Google Meet codes will be posted on students' weekly assignment page. Weekly office hours begin 9/14 and are as follows (schedule subject to change):
1st Grade: Mondays, 10:00-10:30
2nd Grade: Tuedays, 12:00-12:30 (during lunch)
3rd Grade: Wednesdays, 2:30-3:00
4th Grade: Fridays, 10:00-10:30

1. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
2. Call my Google Voice number
3. Fill out this Google Form and I will get back to you
4. Your student can join my weekly Office Hour session and ask for a meeting
My name is Megan Rinn. This is my 3rd year at Capitol Hill, and my 5th year in SPPS. I am so happy to spend another year with this beautiful community! I work with all students in 1st through 4th grades and am an advocate, educator, and source of support for each student. I believe that children do well when they can, and it is my mission to support students where they are and empower them to be their best selves.

Classroom Lessons: I teach social/emotional and academic skills lessons in every classroom regularly throughout the year. Topics include: social skills, bullying prevention, calming stategies, skills for learning (focusing, listening), personal safety, 5th grade transition to Middle School, and much more!
Small Groups: Parents or teachers can refer students for small group skills work. Small groups meet for 30 minutes per week, for about 8 weeks. Topics vary but may include: family change, emotional regulation, growth mindset, executive functioning skills, or friendship skills. Small groups begin in October.
Individual Skills Work: I meet with students one-on-one for a variety of reasons. Parents or teachers can refer students, or students can ask to see me on their own. Individual sessions might focus on worries, family change, making positive choices at school, or peer conflict. My individual work with students is not therapy, but it is confidential. It is brief and solution-focused.
