Ms. Elke Izakson
I was born and raised in New York. For my higher education career I received a Bachelor's degree in Metropolitan Studies and a minor in Education at New York University. In addition I obtained a Master's degree at New York University in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, N-6. I have a New York state certification in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, N-6 as well as a New York state certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, K-12. After graduating I worked with college and adult English Language Learners on Long Island, NY. In 2008, I started working in Brooklyn, NY with English Language Learners ranging from K-8. In November of 2013 I moved to St. Paul and became a substitute in both St. Paul and Minneapolis. Now as of September 2018 I became a Reading Foundations teacher for 9th and 10th grade in addition to working with AVID 10 students. While working at Como Park Senior High School I obtained a Minnesota State Reading certification as well as a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certification.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, journaling, creating abstract ceramic projects, or drawing pastel pieces of art.
