Welcome all! I come to E-STEM with SPPS pride! I've served SPPS famiies and students since 2003. I spent ten years working in EBD programs as a paraprofessional. This experience included self-contained programs and Federal Setting IV. I enjoy working with ALL youth including those who display challenging behavors. My passion is college and career readiness; so annually, I volunteer my time as an HBCU tour chaperone. Here at E-STEM, I am excited to help teachers and students learn about the Get Ready program. Each and every Wednesday, our students receive Get Ready curriculum during Foundations to help them find their drive and a career pathway. It's never too early!
I currently work as a Cultural Specialist which gives me the opportunity to connect closely with our families. Each month we invite your family to join us for Families Attending Monthly (FAM) which is typically the third Thursday from 6:00pm-7:30 but please check our calendar. At FAM, we focus on a different topic suggested by our families. E-STEM encourages families to visit classrooms, join students for lunch, etc whenever you are available. Please be sure to visit The Family Resource Center as well. There you will find a clothes closet full of very nice clothing items and accessories for men, women and children of all ages. It's all FREE! We also accept laundered donations. In addition to FAM, we will have a variety of cultural events throughout the school year as we value diversity.
Last but not least, I am blessed to serve a group of students called BOSS UP. This group is Becoming Outstanding Success Stories who Uplift Peers. They make me proud each and every day as they grow and learn to walk with purpose. They help the school by collecting recycling, operating the school store and volunteering at school events.
If you are interested in touring E-STEM, please schedule in advance. We'd love to meet you and your family! Take care.
