Superintendent Column: Thank You for an Incredible Year
As we close out the 2018-19 school year, I want to thank you, our educators and staff, for an incredible year. Over the last two weeks, 2,380 students earned their diploma from Saint Paul Public Schools. Our graduates are leaving SPPS prepared and ready to pursue their dreams in college, career and life. We should all be incredibly proud.

Staff: Submit a Project Proposal to the Student Engagement and Advancement Board (SEAB)
The Student Engagement and Advancement Board (SEAB) is accepting project proposals from SPPS staff, students and Board members. Project proposals must be submitted online by August 15.

The Saint Paul Rotary is seeking nominations for its annual Teacher of the Year Award.

List of 2019 SPPS Graduation Dates and Locations
Graduations are held from May 28 - June 6 at various locations in Saint Paul. Find details about graduation dates, locations and times; videos of ceremonies; photo slideshows; and stories highlighting graduates. You must have a ticket to attend a graduation ceremony.

SPPS to Provide Free Summer Meals at More Than 75 Locations
Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) will provide free meals to children 18 years old and younger through its Summer Food Service Program. The program is also available to those who are 19 years old and older and have a mental or physical disability or who participate in a public or private nonprofit school program for the mentally or physically disabled.

Students Honored at Eagle Feather Ceremony
The 2019 American Indian Senior Recognition event honored this year's graduating American Indian seniors. Honorees were recognized for academic excellence and community service. Each student received an eagle feather blessed by a distinguished community elder. Students honored with a feather will keep it as a reminder of their scholarly accomplishments in SPPS.

Highland Park Middle School students finalists in state sustainability contest!
Congratualtions to Molly Hanley and Abigail Lawton of Highland Park Middle School for being one of three finalists in District Energy's Sustainable PSA contest.

Central Teacher Accepted Into Prestigious Supreme Court Summer Institute
Stephanie McCleerey, a teacher at Central High School, will travel to Washington, D.C. this June to attend the prestigious Supreme Court Summer Institute.

Approval required for most grant applications
Nearly all grant applications must be approved by the Superintendent and Board of Education. Please submit completed applications to Adam Courville at adam.courville@spps.org to be routed for approvals and inclusion on the school board agenda.

Teachers-only crowdfunding sites
Many SPPS teachers have discovered that DonorsChoose is an easy way to bring needed materials into the classroom. You may have heard that 3M “flash funded” all DonorsChoose projects posted by SPPS teachers in December, and that a national cryptocurrency company flash funded every project in the U.S. just last month.
