Mrs. Rikki Anhorn

My name is Rikki Anhorn and I am looking forward to working with your child and family this school year.

This is my second year teaching at JAJ, but my 13th year as a classroom techer. I have taught kindergarten, 2nd grade and 4th grade. I recieved my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Iowa and my Masters of Art in Teaching from Webster Univiversity in Kansas City.

I have lived in the Twin Cities area for two years now.  I grew up in Iowa and prior to moving here I lived in Kansas City, MO for 12 years.  Since I am fairly new to the area, I have been busy exploring places in and around the cities. I have two young children who love to be outside.  We spend a lot of time in our backyard playing and checking out neighborhood parks and just enjoying nature. My husband and I like to cook and experiement with new recpies when we are at home.

I love teaching because of my students.  I enjoy seeing and being a part of that moment when they discover something new, or master a concept that they have been working on.  I love the creativity and excitment that they bring to the classroom.  Each day is a new day, which means it is a new chance to learn and do something great. One thing that I love about JAJ and drew me to working here is that it feels like a family.  Staff get to know students and their families.  I grew up in a small town and living in a big city I miss that community feeling and those connections.  The staff at JAJ care about and love their students and their families. I love being apart of that.
