Alyssa Mitchell, School Counselor

Hi GAP-L families!

My name is Alyssa Mitchell and I am one of the Licensed School Counselors here at GAP-L.

As a full-time counselor in the building, my caseload this year will be grades 2 - 4, meaning I will deliver classroom lessons and be the primary counselor to these grades. However, I will continue to support all students’ academic, career and social/emotional development needs through a comprehensive school counseling program alongside my counterpart, Sarina Sandstrom.  I am really looking forward to getting to know you all and connecting with both students and families as the year progresses!

The best way to reach me is by email at Alyssa.Mitchell@spps.org or via my office number: 651-744-44695.

In the meantime, here is a Virtual Calming Space for your use!

GAP Counseling Department Mission Statement:

The mission of the Global Arts Plus Counseling Department is to provide a program that fosters the skills, mindsets and behaviors for students to feel confident and prepared to pursue their dreams. We provide the opportunity for all students to equitably access the support and advocacy students need to succeed. Through the use of data and collaboration with families and community resources, we work to eliminate barriers and racial disparities in education.

GAP Counseling Department Vision Statement:

Global Arts Plus Students view the world through the lens of their arts education in unique and critical ways to embrace diversity, pursue lifelong learning and positively impact the world around them. They possess strong self-advocacy skills and have the courage to boldly create their own success and happiness. Our students are productive contributors in society by aligning themselves to a career that matches their individual interests, abilities and values.
