Mr. Sam Beck
Hello Crossroads Families!
My name is Sam Beck, and I am the Intervention Specialist for Crossroads Science! Students can call me Mr. Sam or Mr. Beck, whatever feels most comfortable. This is my very first year at Crossroads, as well as my first year in Saint Paul Public Schools!
Before coming to Crossroads, I worked as a Youth Advocate at Cornerstone Advocacy Services in Bloomington, serving youth and families impacted by different forms of interpersonal violence and trauma. I loved my time there - I owe much of who I am as a professional, and a person, to my former Cornerstone families and colleagues! After 3 and a half years at Cornerstone, I decided I wanted to go after my goal of working with children and their families in a school setting - and now here I am! I'm incredibly grateful to be a member of the Crossroads team!
When I'm not at work, I enjoy being active and trying new things! I love to play tennis and basketball, and I also play in year round flag football leagues. I love biking, hiking, and exploring - my favorite destination is anywhere on the North Shore (but particularly Grand Marais). In the coming year I hope to do more traveling, so if you have any destination suggestions, feel free to send them my way! When I'm not being active, I enjoy watching and following sports (go Vikings, Twins, and Timberwolves!). I also enjoy spending quality time with friends and family, and taking care of my many plants! A final thing to know about me is I LOVE jokes and puns, so if you have any good ones send those my way as well!
As an Intervention Specialist, my role will be to support students and their families in a variety of ways, in collaboration with the Crossroads Student Support Team (school counselors, school social workers, school nurse) as well as Teachers! My ultimate goal is to support students so that they are ready to learn - physically, mentally, and emotionally! I'm excited to learn from you, and work alongside you, this year!
