Ms. Kate Johnson
Welcome to the new school year!
My name is Kate Johnson and I am one of the seventh grade science teachers at Battle Creek Middle School. I started teaching during the 2018-2019 school year after graduating from the University of Illinois with a degree in Integrative Biology and a minor in Gender and Women's Studies. I am currently working towards my M.A. in Teaching at the St. Mary's University in Minneapolis. This is my third year teaching in the city of Saint Paul and my first year teaching in Saint Paul Public Schools.
I enjoy reading, yoga, and being outside. I come from a family of teachers, including my grandma, grandpa, mother, and my younger brother. My favorite subject in school was science (of course) and I was on an undefeated basketball team when I was in middle school. I strive to create hands on experiences for learners, make every person in my classroom feel valued, and teach practical skills in science class.
I will be teaching 7th Grade Life Science and Accelerated Life Science this year. My goal is to get students to think outside of the box and enjoy being in school (in whatever form that takes this year)! Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. Email is the best way to reach me and my goal is to respond within 24 hours. The schedule for my office hours and when classes meet is below.
