Mr. Chris Windman
My name is Mr. Windman, or as many students call me, Mr. W. My educational background started at the University of Minnesota for Sociology of Law and Criminal Deviance. I earned a Bachelors of Arts in that field in 2015. My focus and research during my undergraduate education was the juvenile justice system. I was raised in New York and decided to pursue my undergraduate degree in Minnesota because of the opportunity to train for ice speedskating at the Roseville Oval. After coaching youth speedskating for multiple seasons, I realized my passion is working with young people. I started my Masters in Arts of Teaching at Hamline University in 2017. I recieved my license through Hamline's initial licensure program in winter of 2018. I taught at Crossroads elementary as a 5th grade teacher from 2018-2020.
I currently teach 3rd and 4th grade at Como Park Elementary. I have a split classroom, meaning I have 3rd and 4th graders in the same classroom. Along with helping students master their grade-level skills, I find great joy in seeing students work together to solve challenging problems and tasks. I strive to promote a positive learning community in my classroom. I hope to see every student grow to become lifelong learners, positive team-members, and problem-solvers.
Outside of school, you can see me spending a lot of time outdoors. I am still currently a youth speedskating coach at Midway Speedskating Club and spend much of my winter on the ice at the Roseville Oval. I also enjoy spending time on the ice of many metro lakes trying to catch fish. I love hiking, camping, barbecuing, playing softball and golfing. I also try to visit a new national park every year. When I am inside, I like to cook and watch sports.
