Ms. Kaltun

Hi :) My name is Kaltun Abdikarani. I am the new School Counselor at Hamline Elementary and I am super excited to work with our students on their social/emotional, career and academic development. This is my first year at Hamline Elementary and I am genuinely looking forward to connect and work with students, families and staff. It has been a great start so far.
I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Business and Marketing. Soon after graduating, I knew the corporate world was not the best fit for me and ended up working as a paraprofessional in schools, mental health facilities and in a nonprofit organization as a coach in early childhood. I recently completed a Master's of Education in Counseling. I pursued school counseling because it brought together my passion for education, mental health and proactively supporting our students to succeed in every aspect of their lives.
I am a Somali woman who was born and raised in the Middle East, so I speak Somali and Arabic. I can relate to our ELL students as I was one myself when I came to the US. I am a mother to my lovely son and daughter, a wife and I am caring for my aging mother. I love to read, write, swim, and have meaningful conversations with people.
