Journey Into Education:

Becoming an organizer accompanied me with many opportunities such as becoming a member on the Jay and Rose Phillip Family Foundation grant board. The expertise and networks from the collaboration of Jay and Rose Phillip Family Foundation and Minneapolis Public Schools leadership teams explicitly in the demographic area of North Minneapolis continued my efforts and practices to continue improvement with North Minneapolis Public Schools for many grant cycles.
As I was faced with critical social issues regarding unfair funding to North Side schools, I was inspired to further my schooling with a Master’s Degree in Education. Furthermore, I was recommended for a city and state legislative training organized by another grassroots organization named: Educators for Excellence. This grassroots organization is led by educators, in which I was recognized in their Leadership in Action Pipeline program.
Nonetheless, the experience and collaboration I inquired from the University of Saint Thomas encouraged me to extend my expertise.
I feel confident that my continued efforts in community leadership will continue my catalyst of change. Due to unprecedented times, it is critical to enrich best practices and true lived perspectives to ensure equity, access, and opportunity for all children and adults in which my awards and accomplishments demonstrates my ability to aspire others in making those changes through education.

What You Can Expect your Scholar to Learn from Me:

I firmly believe in the African Proverb, " It takes a village to raise a child". At Hazel Park Prepartory Academy I want to ensure that this community on the eastside can experience and grow in a safe and healthy enviroment. In addition, I want to help develop our scholars into knowledgebale, caring, balanced, communicators, reflective, principled, thinkers, and risk takers who are ready to be catalyst of change. As the world has shifted to a full force of depenedene towards technology, we must embrace and grow as a commuiity in learning effectives ways to communicate during distance learning in (using email, office hours, and synchronous learning time) to get the support they need.
