    Welcome to the Hmong Museum!

Here in the Hmong Museum, there is a Hmong Traditional House where the students at Phalen Lake have the opportunity to come and learn about the Hmong culture.  There are special areas that serve different purposes inside the house, such as the front door, the back part of the house, the guest bed, the cooking area, the center pole, and the storage attic.  The students come to learn and get a feel of how each area of the house was used. Beside the house, there are also farming tools, cooking tools, traditional clothing and toys for students to experience hands-on activities.  We also have storytelling at the Hmong museum.  The stories are from around the world and passed down bilingually in Hmong and English to our students.  There are times we use other languages, such as Spanish and Karen too.  Storytelling helps students become more confident which allows them to gain public speaking skills, as well as reading, writing, and listening skills.  Students also get to go deeper with the language by using proverbs and traditional songs.  We are happy to see you; thank you for coming to visit the Hmong museum!
